Job Description

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in 1 x WGH gastroenterology and 1 x RIE Gastroenterology

These 2 posts are 2 year fixed term locum posts necessitated by the large and growing clinical endoscopy and out-patient workload. It will help meet nationally-set waiting time targets for scheduled and unscheduled care. One post will be based at the Gastrointestinal Unit at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh and the other at RIE Gastroenterology Unit. Both posts involve both out-patient and in-patient activities. The weekly timetable separates in-patient and out-patient duties. The standard week will include up to four endoscopy lists and an outpatient clinic. Endoscopic sessions will include both upper and lower procedures and the applicant should be fully trained at both. It would be an advantage to have an interest in endoscopy. There may be a commitment to inpatient services. The post-holder will contribute to the out-of-hours cover for GI emergencies. There is no General Internal Medicine commitment. There will be sessional commitments working at other sites in Lothian.
