Exciting Opportunity to Join Our Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team of 17 consultant gastroenterologists and hepatologists. This post is to support the hepatology service at Wythenshawe hospital. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual who can deliver and develop high quality hepatology care, including inpatient care, endoscopic activity, and clinics.

About Our Department

Our department delivers comprehensive gastrointestinal services at:

  • Manchester Royal Infirmary
  • Wythenshawe Hospital
  • North Manchester General Hospital

Along with outpatient services at:

  • Trafford Community Hospital
  • Withington Community Hospital

The department operates a 24/7 on-call service for acute gastroenterology and hepatology admissions.

In-hours Liaison:

  • Managed by the consultant of the week
  • Frequency varies on each site

Out of Hours Provision:

  • Delivered by the consultant on-call
  • Current typical on-call frequency is approximately 1:12

The posts are for 10PAs including 1.5 core SPA. Ward cover for subspecialty luminal gastroenterology is overseen by a consultant of the week, currently planned to be 1:12 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular MDTs, clinics, and endoscopy according to your interests and development needs.
  • Involvement in out of hours work can be discussed on an individual involvement.
  • Out of hours on call is contributing to a GI bleed service for MRI (currently a 1:17 rota). On call weekend work includes daily gastroenterology ward rounds.
