Job Summary

The post advertised is for a Locum Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon within the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust for a period of 12 months.

The post will support the department's needs as well as capabilities within the full range of general Trauma & Orthopaedic On-Call work, including outside referrals and in-house emergencies. The T&O department delivers services across multiple sites, so the applicant will be expected to work on different sites as part of their normal job plan. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre and houses the Royal Centre for Defense Medicine, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital delivers the trust fragility femoral fracture service and is one of the busiest hip fracture centers in England. Ambulatory trauma and acute arthroplasty is delivered at Good Hope Hospital, and the Solihull Elective Hub delivers the majority of our planned care.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

The job will involve 10 weekly programmed activities which will include Clinics and Theatre lists at QEHB, Good Hope & Solihull Hospitals. This post includes participating in a 1:16 on call rota with additional planned weekend activity.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GMC Registration
  • Post CCT
  • Current ATLS or European Trauma Course provider or instructor
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
