Logistics Analytics & Optimisation Lead

Ciena is seeking a logistics analytics professional to drive data-informed decisions across global logistics operations. This role delivers insights that optimise transportation performance, improve operational efficiency, and support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining customer satisfaction. The position also plays a key role in automation, reporting, supplier engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

How you will make an impact:

  • Analyse shipment routing, service levels, carrier selection, and logistics data to identify opportunities to optimise the global supply chain and achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with regional logistics teams, internal stakeholders, and external providers to implement routing guide changes that deliver savings while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Lead engagement with logistics suppliers to resolve operational issues and improve performance.
  • Conduct RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs in partnership with Procurement, from objective definition through final evaluation and milestone completion.
  • Develop logistics reporting, metrics, and Power BI dashboards to enable automation, visibility, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead logistics cost reduction initiatives, validate savings, assess budget impact, and provide end-to-end cost visibility in collaboration with Finance and operational teams.
  • Deliver quarterly business reviews, executive reporting, logistics cost estimates, and performance analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with Ciena’s freight invoice audit company to ensure invoices are processed within agreed terms.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
