Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Logistics Controller to take ownership of logistics and customs activities across our UK operations to be based out of either our Aberdeen or Wallingford offices. This is an exciting opportunity for a logistics professional who thrives on ensuring goods move safely, efficiently and compliantly whilst driving continuous improvement across supply chain processes.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, logistics partners and regulatory bodies, you will provide expert guidance on freight logistics, customs compliance and transportation activities. You will be responsible for ensuring robust governance, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing logistics performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Your role and responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee day to day logistics and customs activities across designated business areas and sites.
- Ensure all logistics transactions are accurately recorded and maintained within company systems and registers.
- Provide guidance and support on logistics best practice, customs requirements and international freight movements.
- Monitor changes to regulatory and customs requirements, ensuring the business remains fully compliant.
- Manage relationships and performance of freight forwarders and logistics service providers.
- Maintain logistics related licences, guarantees and regulatory arrangements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise logistics operations and reduce third party costs.
- Support the development and performance management of logistics personnel.
- Work collaboratively with Supply Chain, Warehouse, QHSSE and operational teams to deliver best in class logistics services.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:
We're looking for someone with strong logistics and customs expertise who can confidently manage complex freight movements and regulatory requirements.
- Significant experience in freight logistics and customs operations is essential.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is also essential.
- Strong knowledge of import/export regulations and logistics compliance.
- Experience managing third party logistics providers and contractor performance.
- Knowledge of dangerous goods transportation requirements across land, air and sea.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Advanced IT skills, including experience with logistics systems, databases and spreadsheets.
- A full driving licence.
- Forklift certification and Dangerous Goods Transport qualifications would be advantageous.
