About the Role
At DS Smith, we are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Ely. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the smooth coordination of logistics operations while delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
As Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing deliveries, liaising with hauliers, supporting production and sales teams, and ensuring all logistics activities are completed accurately and efficiently. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where communication, organisation, and attention to detail are essential.
What You'll Be Doing
As Logistics Coordinator, you will:
- Coordinate and manage daily logistics and delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with haulage providers and customers.
- Attend daily capacity meetings and communicate any potential issues or delivery risks to the business.
- Monitor all scheduled deliveries and proactively resolve any challenges.
- Provide outstanding customer service, ensuring communication is timely, accurate, and professional.
- Ensure all in-house logistics documentation is maintained, accurate, and presented in a standard format.
- Produce detailed daily handover reports for the Logistics Manager.
- Work closely with Sales, Production, Manufacturing, and Account Management teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Establish a close working relationship with the Day Shift Manufacturing Manager.
- Notify Account Management teams of any booking, delivery, or scheduling issues at the earliest opportunity.
- Maintain accurate reporting methods for logistics performance, dispatch activity, and associated costs.
- Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy and service.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
- Strong PC and administrative skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Good understanding of specifications and dimensions.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong geographical knowledge of UK locations and transport routes.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and short-notice schedule amendments.
- Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
- A reliable, dependable, and proactive approach to work.
