Logistics Coordinator / Import & Export Coordinator - Chemical Distribution

Are you an experienced Logistics Coordinator, Logistics Officer or Import & Export Coordinator with a background in chemical distribution? We're recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing international business that has achieved exceptional growth over the past 12 months. As the company continues to expand its logistics operation, it is looking for an experienced coordinator who understands the demands of distributing chemical products through international supply chains.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, fast-paced environment where you'll manage international shipments across road, sea and air. You'll take responsibility for customs and shipping documentation, coordinate with freight partners and help ensure chemical products are transported safely, compliantly and on schedule.

The Logistics Coordinator / Import & Export Coordinator Role:

  • Coordinating domestic and international shipments of chemical products by road, sea and air
  • Managing customs-clearance documentation and import/export processes
  • Preparing and checking shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Working with freight forwarders, hauliers and specialist transport providers
  • Negotiating rates and service levels with transport and freight partners
  • Liaising with suppliers, warehouses and customers to maintain smooth delivery schedules
  • Planning and monitoring shipments from order through to final delivery
  • Ensuring relevant product, transport and safety documentation accompanies each shipment
  • Maintaining accurate information across the ERP system and Excel
  • Resolving delays, documentation queries and delivery issues proactively
  • Working closely with internal teams to meet customer deadlines and operational priorities
  • Supporting continuous improvement across logistics and supply-chain processes

About You:

To be considered, you will need previous experience working within a distribution business involving chemical products. You should already be confident managing international freight and able to make an impact without requiring extensive training. You may currently be working as a Logistics Coordinator, Logistics Officer, Import & Export Coordinator, Freight Coordinator, Shipping Coordinator, Supply Chain Coordinator, Logistics Planner or Transport Coordinator.

You will also have:

  • Previous logistics or supply-chain experience within a chemical distribution company or a closely related chemicals environment
  • Experience coordinating international freight by road, sea and/or air
  • A good understanding of the documentation and compliance requirements associated with transporting chemical products
  • Strong knowledge of customs-clearance procedures and import/export documentation
  • Experience working with and negotiating with freight forwarders, hauliers and transport providers
  • A good understanding of international supply-chain operations
  • Experience using ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics experience would be advantageous
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • The confidence to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers, customers and logistics partners
