Logistics Lead Operative Weekends | Rochdale
The Lead Logistics Operative is responsible for supporting the day-to-day coordination and performance of logistics activities, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch of goods. In addition to core operative duties, the role provides on-shift leadership, ensuring standards are maintained, issues are resolved quickly, and the team is aligned to operational priorities. The role will also deputise for the Logistics Supervisor when required, supporting continuity of operations, service, safety, and efficiency across the warehouse.
What You Will Be Doing
Stock & Operational Control:
- Maintain high standards of accuracy across inbound, storage, picking, and dispatch activities.
- Support and oversee goods receipt, checking, storage, and system updates in line with procedures.
- Monitor stock accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and support timely resolution.
- Ensure all handling, storage, and movement of goods meets safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Act as a point of escalation for operational issues and ensure prompt resolution.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Provide day-to-day direction and support to Logistics Operatives during the shift.
- Allocate tasks and coordinate workloads to ensure operational priorities are delivered.
- Promote safe working practices, hygiene standards, and adherence to procedures.
- Support onboarding, training, and coaching of team members to build capability.
- Act as the first point of contact for operational queries, escalating where required.
- Deputise for the Logistics Supervisor when required, ensuring effective team coordination and decision-making in their absence.

Operational Performance & Process Management:
- Support efficient warehouse operations, ensuring flow across inbound, storage, and outbound activities.
- Monitor performance against plan (e.g. throughput, accuracy, service) and highlight risks.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment always.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and ways of working.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and wider teams to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
What You Will Bring
- Proven experience in Warehouse environment
- Experience managing FIFO/FEFO
- Strong working knowledge of SAP and Arolink
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills across all levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment
- Experience in supervising multi-shift operations
- Knowledge of supply chain and warehouse processes
- Working knowledge inventory or warehouse management
