About The Role
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.
We are more than just an alliance, we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
What you'll be doing
The purpose of the role is to manage movement of people, equipment and materials from point of source to point of use, safely and to meet the DCO conditions constraints of the project. The role includes coordination with the SZC client team for the provision of on site and offsite facilities for storage and occupation. Engagement with the Contractor’s supply chain and 3rd parties for the strategic and operational logistics, monitoring of performance and taking corrective and improvement actions as necessary.
The Scope Will Include a List Of Activities To Coordinate All The Logistics Operations Within The Civils Project Enabling Works, Earthworks, Marine & Tunnelling Portions Including But Not Limited To The Following:
- Materials forecasting, flow development and reporting - Lead the plan for entry and exit of all material movements inclusive of Delivery Management System
- Transport, including road, rail and shipping - development of the freight profile (including bulks and AILs)
- People forecasting, monitoring and reporting of the data
- Demand profiling for utilities
- Site set up - coordination of design, installation and operation (including transport and storage)
- Define and manage the end to end coordination of the supply chain, material movements and information flows
- Ensure robust facility management plans, including office and welfare plans are developed
- Communications & coordination / change management for physical presence of resources & materials onsite (In conjunction with package managers, engineers, procurement & subcontractors)
- Brings new insight and provides powerful motivation to support performance and capability development.
- Be an advocate for Sustainability best practise and innovation in your function, ensure ongoing developments & improvements are made to maximise the benefits to the business & celebrate successes.
- Agree the division of responsibilities between the SZC client organisation, the Civil Works Alliance partners and others, including supply chain to avoid gaps and overlaps. Ensure necessary contractual arrangements are in place.

- Experience of delivery in large UK civil engineering projects

- Nuclear/license condition experience

- CSCS Black Managers card
- IOSH Managing safety or SMSTS
- Terrestrial and Marine logistics experience
Desirable or equivalent
- CILT(UK) Level 5 Diploma in Operations Management
- CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport
- Data literacy and use of digital tools
