Position: Logistics Operative (HGV Class 2 Driver)
Location: Dignity Manufacturing, Hutton Cranswick, Nr Driffield.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent - average 48 hours per week
Salary: Up to £38,000 DOE
We’re looking for an experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team at Dignity as a Logistics Operative. This is an important role within our logistics operation, responsible for the safe, timely and respectful delivery of Dignity Manufacturing products across our UK funeral network, including Northern Ireland.
This role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in supporting our funeral teams, ensuring they have the products they need to provide families with the care and service they deserve.

Your Impact and Responsibilities…
Being a Logistics Operative means more than simply getting from A to B. You’ll be responsible for ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and with the care and sensitivity expected when representing Dignity.
As a Logistics Operative (HGV Class 2 Driver), you will:
- Drive Class 2 HGV vehicles to deliver coffins and other Dignity Manufacturing products across the UK, including Northern Ireland.
- Complete multidrop deliveries safely, accurately and within agreed schedules.
- Handle coffins and other products with the utmost care, dignity and respect.
- Load and unload goods safely and efficiently.
- Plan and organise efficient delivery routes, taking account of traffic conditions and delivery timeframes.
- Monitor traffic reports and adapt routes where necessary to ensure timely deliveries.
- Complete all delivery paperwork and maintain accurate logbooks and records.
- Ensure compliance with legal driving hours, transport regulations and Dignity's health and safety procedures.
- Carry out routine vehicle checks, including oil, tyre and brake checks, and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Operate commercial vehicles efficiently, including vehicles over 7.5 tonnes.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with colleagues, funeral directors, customers and other stakeholders.
- Resolve unexpected issues, such as route changes or vehicle problems, calmly and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, vehicle presentation and safety at all times.
- Work collaboratively with our logistics and funeral service teams to ensure deliveries support the smooth running of our operations.
- Undertake both short- and long-distance journeys, including overnight stays away from home where required.

Skills and Knowledge…
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a valid HGV Class 2 Driving Licence (Essential).
- Holds a current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
- Has proven experience driving HGVs safely and efficiently.
- Has experience operating commercial vehicles up to and over 7.5 tonnes.
- Has experience using and managing demountable boxes.
- Has excellent route-planning and navigation skills, using GPS and/or maps.
- Demonstrates strong time-management and organisational skills.
- Has excellent attention to detail when checking loads, deliveries and documentation.
- Has good verbal and written communication skills.
- Has basic mechanical knowledge and can identify and report routine vehicle issues.
- Is calm and confident when dealing with unexpected situations or changes to delivery schedules.
- Is reliable, punctual and flexible in their approach to work.
- Is comfortable undertaking long-distance driving and working from a vehicle for extended periods.
- Understands the importance of empathy, sensitivity and professionalism when representing Dignity.
- Works well independently while also being a supportive and collaborative team member.
