STS Aviation Services is hiring a Logistics Operative in Birmingham, United Kingdom, for a five-month fixed-term contract supporting aircraft maintenance operations at its Birmingham hangar.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced logistics, stores, or warehouse professional who can manage aircraft parts, tooling, and consumables while maintaining accurate records and supporting strict aviation safety and compliance requirements.

Position Overview

The Logistics Operative is responsible for the safe and effective receipt, storage, control, and movement of aircraft parts, tools, and consumables within the hangar environment.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Procurement teams, you will help ensure maintenance personnel have the materials and tooling required to complete aircraft maintenance safely and efficiently.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Logistics Operative
  • Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
  • Employment Type: Five-Month Fixed-Term Contract
  • Working Days: Monday through Friday
  • Shift Pattern: Early, late, or core-hours shift
  • Current Logistics Coverage: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Working hours may be subject to change based on operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming aircraft parts, materials, and consumables
  • Follow company procedures and applicable aviation standards
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using company stock management systems
  • Issue aircraft parts and tooling to engineers
  • Ensure all inventory and tooling transactions are recorded correctly
  • Support the return and disposal of unserviceable parts
  • Follow applicable regulatory requirements when handling unserviceable materials
  • Monitor stock levels
  • Complete regular inventory audits and cycle counts
  • Ensure all goods are stored safely and securely
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Production teams to support operational requirements
  • Help minimize aircraft maintenance delays caused by material or tooling availability
  • Operate material handling equipment and vehicles safely
  • Support continuous improvement within logistics and supply chain operations

Skills And Experience

  • At least two years of experience in a logistics, stores, or warehouse position
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory management
  • Knowledge of logistics and material handling processes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Accurate data entry and record-keeping skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using inventory management systems

Preferred Experience

  • Previous aviation industry experience
  • Knowledge of aviation safety and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with EASA or UK CAA Part 145 regulations
