Logistics Specialist

POSITION: Logistics Specialist
LOCATION: South Wales, UK (candidates must be locally based)
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 5 years in a logistics/supply chain role

We are looking for an experienced and detail-driven Logistics Specialist to manage and optimize the movement of our products from production through to our global distribution partners. This is a key operational role supporting an international export business, based at our headquarters in South Wales.

Job Summary

The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for coordinating international and domestic shipments, managing export documentation, liaising with freight forwarders and customs authorities, and ensuring products reach our global partners on time and in full compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Freight & Shipment Coordination
    • Plan, schedule, and track domestic and international shipments across sea, air, and road freight.
    • Liaise with freight forwarders, couriers, and carriers to secure competitive rates and reliable transit times.
    • Monitor shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or disruptions.

  • Export Documentation & Compliance

    • Prepare and manage export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
    • Ensure full compliance with UK export regulations and destination country import requirements, particularly for agrochemical/biotechnology products.
    • Maintain accurate records for customs, regulatory, and audit purposes.
  • Warehouse & Inventory Coordination

    • Work closely with the warehouse and production teams to align stock availability with shipment schedules.
    • Support inventory accuracy through regular stock checks and reconciliation with logistics records.
  • Supplier & Partner Relationship Management

    • Act as the main point of contact for logistics queries from international distributors and partners.
    • Negotiate and manage relationships with logistics providers, customs brokers, and freight agents.
  • Process Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to streamline logistics operations, reduce costs, and improve delivery reliability.
    • Support the implementation and use of logistics/CRM software to track shipments and generate reporting.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Qualities:

  • Must be based locally in South Wales.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain role.
  • Solid working knowledge of export documentation and customs procedures (experience with agrochemical, biotech, or regulated goods a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with international partners, carriers, and customs authorities.
  • Proficient with logistics/ERP software and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
  • A valid driver's license.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the agriculture, crop science, or export manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with international trade compliance (Incoterms, HS codes, dangerous goods regulations).
  • A relevant logistics/supply chain qualification (e.g., CILT).
