Logistics Supervisor

Basingstoke - £40,000 + Benefits - 4 Days Office / 1 Day WFH

Are you an experienced logistics professional who enjoys being hands-on as well as taking responsibility?

I’m recruiting for a growing international business looking for a Logistics Supervisor to take ownership of its day-to-day logistics operation.

This is not a role where you'll simply delegate to an administrator. You'll be responsible for managing and processing shipments yourself, while also supervising and supporting one Logistics Administrator.

You'll be part of a close-knit team where everyone gets involved, and you'll need to be happy getting stuck into the detail as well as managing freight providers and improving processes.

The Role

You'll manage the day-to-day movement of domestic and international shipments across road, sea, air and courier, covering inbound and outbound freight across the UK, Europe, USA and Asia.

You'll personally handle bookings, documentation, shipment tracking, customs requirements, freight invoices and logistics administration, while overseeing one administrator and ensuring the wider operation runs smoothly.

You'll also manage relationships with freight forwarders and carriers, review freight performance and costs, and work closely with Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Procurement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Personally manage and process daily inbound and outbound shipments
  • Arrange domestic and international road, sea, air and courier freight
  • Coordinate shipments from the USA, China, Thailand, Malaysia and other international locations
  • Book freight and monitor shipments through to delivery
  • Proactively resolve delays and delivery issues
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers and courier companies
  • Review freight rates, contracts and carrier performance
  • Check and approve freight and logistics invoices
  • Prepare and check customs documentation
  • Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure efficient clearance
  • Deal with duty, taxes and import/export requirements
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and international trade regulations
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation
  • Create and maintain electronic shipment folders and references
  • Keep shipping logs and loading plans fully up to date
  • Create ASNs through the warehouse management system
  • Use Excel to export, analyse and produce logistics reports
  • Analyse freight costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Develop and maintain SOPs
  • Support audits and compliance reviews
  • Supervise and support one Logistics Administrator while continuing to process the work yourself
  • Step in and help with the wider team's workload when required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
