Supporting the Logistics & Operations in a Warehouse Environment
Supporting the logistics & operations in a warehouse environment, learning transport planning, warehouse duties, customer service, import & export processes, security & aviation compliance, health & safety, and transportation of goods in the UK.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work:
- Learning transport planning and vehicle routing
- Raising customer bookings
- Supporting the Transport Manager with vehicle servicing and maintenance scheduling
- Logging and reporting operational issues
- Briefing drivers at the start of the day and conducting debriefs at the end of the shift
- Assisting the customer service team with queries
- Developing an understanding of Transport Operator Licensing
- Developing an understanding of tachograph regulations
- Learning about dangerous goods handling requirements
- Developing professional email etiquette
- Building strong problem-solving skills
- Gaining experience across multiple internal and external systems
- Understanding health & safety responsibilities
- Awareness of aviation cargo security requirements and supporting the Security Manager
- Spending time with drivers to gain insight into their roles and the challenges within road transport
- Visiting customers

What you'll learn
Course contents:
- Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
- Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
- Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
- Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
- Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
- Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
- Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
- Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
- Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- Support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance.
- Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
- Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
- Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2
On-the-job training delivered by the employer
Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment
For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3
Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training
Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge, skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop
Identify, track and support 6 hours of off-the-job training activities
Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps

Training on internal systems, processes will be provided by the employer.
Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade Minimum Grade C or 4)
- Maths (grade Minimum Grade C or 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
Other requirements
Due to company insurance restrictions, applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

The apprenticeship will initially be a 24-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with the aim that apprentices either move onto a further apprenticeship or a permanent role within the business, subject to a suitable vacancy being available and in line with the selection process for the role.
