Capital Markets

Here You Will Gain Exposure To Areas Such As Debt Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Real Estate Finance, Energy & Infrastructure And Corporate Broking. From Financing Acquisitions And Refinancing Loans To Raising Equity And Advising Strategic Transactions, This Is Where You Will See How We Deliver Complex Solutions For Major Clients. You Could Be Placed In Any Of The Below Teams

  • Equity Capital Market (ECM)- Supporting listed and private companies across EMEA in raising equity either via an IPO, Accelerated Bookbuildings or Rights Issues as well as helping shareholders place shares of listed companies to equity investors. The ECM team is instrumental in structuring and marketing these strategic equity transactions and interacts on a daily basis with multiple teams across the bank. These include equity syndicate, research, sales and industry groups, as well as the equity-linked team sitting within ECM which structures Convertible Bonds.
  • Corporate Broking - Corporate Broking is a unique role as a strategic advisor for listed UK corporate clients, combining relationship management with strategic capital markets advice. Key areas of focus for the team include shareholder analysis, market intelligence, strategic advisory, as well as regulatory updates. Working closely with company Boards, C-Suite, and investor relations. You will get to work closely with other parts of the bank, including ECM, UK Advisory, Industry Group, Coverage, and Equities.
  • Real Estate - Real Estate Capital Markets works with global real estate investors including private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and REITs to structure and deliver bespoke financings for commercial real estate acquisitions, developments and take-privates. The team also leads the bank's strategic relationships with real estate corporates, partnering with colleagues across Global Banking and Global Markets to facilitate access to BNPP’s full spectrum of products and services.
  • Energy and Infrastructure (E&I) -The team acts as an adviser and arranger of limited recourse financing solutions across the EMEA region in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. This includes advising clients with respect to their debt financing needs, arranging and structuring debt financing as mandated lead arranger, cross selling other products of the bank (including hedging and cash management solutions), acting as coverage for certain clients and monitoring its exposure to transactions on its book.
  • Debt Capital Markets (DCM)- In the DCM team we support investment grade corporate clients when raising, structuring and managing their debt. We focus mainly on issuing new debt (bonds or hybrids) but also work closely with clients to optimise their existing debt portfolios via liability management. It is a role that sits in Global Banking but is also very market focused. We are often busy executing deals as well as working on more strategic transactions. We partner closely with all of the other teams in this list.
  • Leverage Finance – Supporting Private Equity funds and sub-investment grade companies in raising and managing their debt, optimizing their capital structure.
  • Loan Capital Markets - Supporting corporate clients, predominantly by structuring and financing their large acquisitions. These large deals take place in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities include learning financial modelling and credit analysis

The Programme Overview

The Internship

Our nine-week Capital Markets internship gives you the chance to experience life at the centre of corporate and investment banking. After a week of training, you will spend eight weeks in one of our business areas, taking on real responsibility from the start and contributing to live client projects.

This is your opportunity to develop skills, build your network, and demonstrate your potential for a place on our graduate programme.

As part of this internship, you may be considered for the 2028 Global Banking Graduate Programme in London ONLY.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the origination and execution of financing and advisory transactions
  • Prepare market updates and client presentations
  • Assist with due diligence, credit analysis and financial modelling
  • Contribute to internal reporting and transaction materials
  • Gain exposure to equity, debt and specialist financing products

What We’re Looking For

To join the Capital Markets Summer Internship, you should be in your penultimate year of study and:

  • Be fluent in English with strong written and verbal skills
  • On track for a 2:1 degree or equivalent
  • Strong interest in banking and financial markets
  • Excellent analytical and numerical ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Organised, detail-focused and able to manage time effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach
  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with financial modelling or coding (an advantage but not required)
