The London News Correspondent is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role is responsible for identifying and pitching newsworthy stories in the UK and Europe that are relevant to Phoenix TV’s global Chinese-speaking audience. The correspondent will conduct thorough research, carry out interviews, and produce timely, accurate news reports and features in line with editorial standards. Daily responsibilities include writing scripts, preparing live and recorded segments, collaborating with editors and producers, and coordinating with the wider international news network. The role may also involve multimedia reporting, including on-camera appearances, social media updates, and contributions to digital platforms.
Qualifications
- Strong news writing and general writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and engaging journalistic content.
- Editorial experience, including story selection, angle development, and adherence to professional journalistic standards and ethics.
- Advanced research skills for sourcing information, verifying facts, and developing in-depth reports on complex issues.
- Multimedia capabilities, such as on-camera reporting, basic video production, and familiarity with digital and social media platforms.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese, with strong spoken and written communication skills; proficiency in English is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UK and European current affairs, politics, economics, and culture.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure, manage multiple assignments, and respond quickly to breaking news.
- Bachelor’s degree in Politics, China Studies, Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous experience as a reporter or correspondent for TV, online, or print news organizations is preferred.
