At Hill Dickinson, we believe the best lawyers are those who are genuinely passionate about the sectors they work in. That's why our unique training contract allows you to tailor your experience and develop your expertise in the areas that interest you most.
Over the course of your two-year training contract, you'll complete four six-month seats, gaining hands on experience across at least three different teams while developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed as a solicitor.
From the outset, your seats will be aligned to one of our specialist business groups. In London, you can experience a sector-specific training contract in Business Services, Marine or Health.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you need to know
To be eligible to apply, you must be able to commence your training contract in September 2029 and begin SQE studies in 2028. This means you will likely need to be in the second year of a law or non-law degree to be eligible.
