About The Role

Would you like to play a key role in shaping the future of our operations? We're looking for a proactive and forward-thinking Long-Range Planner to help align customer demand with our operational capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact, drive planning excellence, and collaborate with teams across the business.

The Long-Range Planner will balance supply and demand through evaluation and interrogation of the ERP system against materials, capacities, and resources to meet expectations of On Time to Release works orders. This job role is critical to support Customer On Time Delivery and enables the creation of the master schedule in line with Customer requirements and Business strategies. In addition, the Long-Range Planner will, through a continuous cycle of standard work, review the forward load and engage with all Operational Stakeholder to highlight perceived risks in meeting customer demand.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Resolution of MRP Action messages, balancing supply and demand, and escalating perceived risk to ensure appropriate focus supports resolution and Customer OTD targets.
  • Review job creation suggestions in MRP and create works orders.
  • Support production team in achieving the production schedule through effective communication, problem solving, and inter-departmental liaison.
  • Coordinate/communicate and facilitate daily MRB outputs to the Planning Team as appropriate.
  • Drive OTR targets through daily and weekly standard work.
  • Support NPI development projects as appropriate.
  • Effective long-range capacity planning through management of Master Schedule and challenging Planning Data Integrity to achieve effective Replenishment Planning.
  • Coordinate the flow of information from Production to Customer Service Team to ensure alignment to the Customer Order Book.
  • Timely and professional responses to all appropriate requests from stakeholders and particularly customer-driven queries.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the Purchasing team to deliver results through effective planning and communication.
  • Review and collaborate with Finance Teams to ensure WIP variances are closed out within specified time frames.
  • Review excess and obsolescence and identify actions required to alleviate inventory impact.
  • Finite Scheduling activities through the VAPS MoM system in times of absence of Short Range Planner.
  • Support the Business in participation of Customer, BSI, and regulatory audits.
  • Discuss, propose, and action 5s improvements and activities.
  • Assume any other reasonable duty as requested by your manager.

What We’re Looking For

  • Maths GCSE Grade C or higher
  • English GCSE Grade C or higher
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of MRP and advanced planning and scheduling is required.
  • The ability to problem solve and challenge the operating parameters within scope would be an advantage in this demanding role (Plan, Do, Check, Act)

Desirable

  • APICS – Basic Supply Chain Planning preferred but not essential
