Role: Finance Manager

Contract: Part-time, permanent contract

Salary: commensurate with experience

Start date: asap

We are an awesome, organic, BCorp farm in Stroud with a market garden, beef herd, chickens, fruit and nut trees, a tree nursery and mushrooms. And a farmhouse we rent out. We are looking for an organised and experienced Finance Manager to join the team at Good Small Farms. The permanent role is part-time with flexible working hours and is on-site at the farm in Stroud.

Overview Of The Role

The Financial Manager is responsible for the oversight of the financial picture presented by Good Small Farms and evolution of the financial reporting in order to achieve the strategic goals of the company. You will report to the farm manager, coordinate regularly with the heads of the individual farming enterprises, oversee the activities of the bookkeeping support, and work with the external accountants as required.

Core Functions Of This Job Include

  • All financial reporting: monthly, quarterly, annual, and interim reports as required
  • Coordinating with the enterprises and the farm manager regularly to build and expand the reporting framework as the business evolves and grows
  • Overseeing and managing the regular bookkeeping activities
  • HR Support – Payroll, overseeing employee holidays, onboarding new starters, etc
  • Overall assistance in running day-to-day financial elements of business operations

Essential Skills And Qualifications

  • Experience as a Finance Manager or similar role
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy
  • Excellent knowledge of Xero
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Good organisational skills and data management
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Right to work in the UK

Ideal Qualifications

  • AAT Level 4
  • Experience in agricultural institutions
  • Passion for sustainable, local farming

We are aiming to recruit for this position as soon as possible to maximise the handover time with our current finance manager. Interviews will be on a rolling basis and we aim to make a final decision by mid April.
