Low Carbon Manager

Regional, see below

An opportunity has arisen for a Low Carbon Manager to join the team at Galliford Try.

As Low Carbon Manager, you will support our staff and be a subject matter expert advisor to the Board / Senior Leadership Teams (SLT) for our northern Building BUs (Business Units). You will be an important enabler in our Journey to Net Zero across all our operations by 2045.

You will manage and drive the BUs’ response to the low carbon agenda to reduce carbon within the assets we deliver (and the processes in which we deliver them), support our customers’ ambitions to reduce their carbon and support our Group initiative to achieve PAS 2080 accreditation in 2024.

What you will be doing:

You will work centrally within the business to support our project teams to deliver Low Carbon Construction in the assets that we build by:

  • Supporting upskilling of our workforce to understand their contribution to low carbon construction and develop their ability to effectively lower carbon.
  • Advising on low carbon technical solutions to our internal design staff and external consultants to deliver whole life low carbon design solutions.
  • Enabling and monitoring collection of data within carbon measurement tools in design and during construction to better understand our carbon footprint and illustrate progression in reduction of carbon in delivery.
  • Managing reporting to respond to internal targets and external client requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining our Carbon Management Process in line with PAS 2080 to make carbon reduction part of everyday business as usual and maximise our carbon reduction opportunities.
  • Carrying out engagement with the wider value chain (Policy makers, Industry bodies, Clients, Consultants, Sub-contractors and Material suppliers) on carbon. Supporting them on their journeys to net zero so they in turn can support us. Including assessing industry progression and how it’s effects will impact on our future operations.
  • Facilitating sharing of lessons learnt internally across the business and externally to the wider industry to accelerate adoption and drive efficiencies.

Location

At Galliford Try, we are committed to flexible and agile working. You will cover a geographical area of the business including North, North West and East Midlands with offices in Manchester, Leicester, Leeds & Newcastle. Day to day working locations are flexible but regular face to face contact with project and business unit teams will be required and you will have the opportunity to travel across multiple offices/sites/projects in these areas.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
