Senior Java Developer – Low Latency Systems

Location: Remote | Permanent | Competitive + Bonus

About the Role

We're working with a fast-growing technology firm building ultra-low-latency, high-throughput systems used across global financial markets, trading platforms, market data infrastructure, and messaging technology operating in the microsecond and nanosecond range. Their technology is trusted by tier-1 banks, hedge funds, and exchanges worldwide.

Our client is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join their core engineering team, working on performance-critical infrastructure where every allocation, every branch, and every cache line matters.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build high-performance, low-latency Java components used in demanding production trading environments
  • Profile and optimise for latency and throughput at a granular level, GC behaviour, memory layout, off-heap storage, lock-free concurrency
  • Work directly with client engineering teams to integrate the technology into partner systems
  • Contribute to libraries and frameworks used across the industry
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and mentoring of junior engineers

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
