I’m partnering with a highly regarded technical engineering vendor supporting multi-year, mission-critical programmes within a Tier-1 electronic trading environment.
About the Role
We’re looking for exceptional Java Engineers with genuine low-latency trading experience across FX and Cash Equities.
Responsibilities
- Work as a Low-Latency Java Engineer within a Tier-1 electronic trading environment.
- Apply deep Java/JVM experience within electronic or algorithmic trading.
- Optimise latency, throughput and performance in trading systems.
- Work on low-latency market data, execution or connectivity.
- Engage in multi-year, mission-critical programmes.
- Be on-site in London a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Participate in confidential discussions regarding your experience and suitability.

Qualifications
- UK work eligibility required.
- Must be London-commutable.
Required Skills
- Deep Java/JVM experience within electronic or algorithmic trading, with demonstrable experience optimising latency, throughput and performance.
- Low-latency experience is critical.
- Ability to clearly explain:
- What is the lowest-latency system you have worked on?
- What were the latency requirements?
- What did you personally optimise?
- Which technologies did you use?
- How did you measure the improvement?
- Ability to demonstrate the problem → intervention → measurable outcome, rather than simply stating "low latency" on a CV.
- FX or Cash Equities experience, particularly around electronic trading, execution, market data, order routing or exchange connectivity.

Preferred Skills
- Relevant experience may include:
- Aeron, Chronicle, LMAX Disruptor, Netty, FIX/FIXP, SBE
- Off-heap / zero-allocation programming
- Lock-free concurrency / ring buffers
- JVM and GC tuning
- JFR, async-profiler, JMH, Linux perf
- Low-latency market data, execution or connectivity
- We are interested in genuine engineering depth, not keyword coverage.
Pay range and compensation package
- Up to £750/day Inside IR35
- Multi-year engagement
