Limisha Training Academy – Alternative Provision supports young people who do not thrive in traditional education settings, offering a different route to learning and personal development. The academy provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where learners can build confidence, develop practical skills, and improve their wellbeing. Through personalized programmes that combine education, vocational learning, and wellbeing, Limisha helps learners re-engage with education and recognise their strengths.
Practical and vocational pathways, including beauty, hair, and wellbeing, enable learners to experience success, build resilience, and develop aspirations for the future. Limisha works closely with schools, local authorities, parents, carers, and professionals to help young people achieve positive outcomes and believe in their future.
Role Description
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is a part-time, on-site role based in Romsey, supporting young people within Limisha’s alternative provision. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Working directly with learners in small groups and one-to-one settings
- Helping them engage with lessons, vocational activities, and wellbeing sessions
- Assisting with adapting learning materials
- Reinforcing key concepts
- Supporting learners to develop practical skills and confidence

The role involves:
- Monitoring progress
- Providing encouragement
- Supporting positive behavior and emotional wellbeing in collaboration with teaching and support staff
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment
- Maintaining clear communication with colleagues and, where appropriate, with parents and carers
Qualifications
- Experience supporting children or young people in educational, alternative provision, or youth work settings, ideally including SEMH or SEND needs
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to build trusting, professional relationships with learners and staff
- Ability to support learning across core subjects and vocational activities, including adapting resources and explaining concepts in accessible ways
- Skills in promoting wellbeing, resilience, and positive behavior, including de-escalation, encouragement, and solution-focused approaches
- Organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to follow structured programmes while responding flexibly to learners’ needs
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusive practice; understanding of relevant policies and willingness to undertake training
- Basic IT skills for recording progress, communicating with the team, and using digital learning resources
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Learning Support, Youth Work, or equivalent experience; enhanced DBS check required
