Learning Support Assistant

About The Role And School

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Newham from September. This Learning Support Assistant role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential within a nurturing mainstream environment.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will work alongside class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to provide personalised support through one-to-one and small group interventions. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in promoting pupil engagement, confidence and independence both inside and outside the classroom.

This Learning Support Assistant opportunity is ideal for someone with previous experience working with children who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and parents

Qualifications/Experience

  • Previous experience working with children is desirable
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous
  • Positive and proactive approach
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK
