Lunchtime Supervisor Opportunity at Selly Oak Trust School
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Lunchtime Supervisor.
By creating a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment within a secondary special educational needs (SEN) school, Lunchtime Supervisors play a vital role in supporting students with a wide range of additional needs. They help students navigate social interactions, develop independence and essential life skills, and enjoy their free time safely and positively. Their duties include facilitating inclusive play and social activities, promoting positive behaviour, supporting communication and emotional regulation, and providing reassurance and encouragement to students who may find the unstructured nature of break and lunchtime periods challenging.
We are looking for individuals who are able to support our students, either individually or in groups over the lunchtime period. We want staff that are able to set up and coordinate play activities, supervise young people in designated areas across the school and contribute to their health, safety and wellbeing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
