The Role

We are seeking a Plant Service Engineer to join our Distribution Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme. In this role, you will proactively maintain and service all plant equipment in line with manufacturers’ recommendations and the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, while providing leadership and oversight to Plant Service Engineering staff to ensure effective workload management.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide a service, measured against departmental responsibilities, objectives, and KPI’s.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of an effective planned preventative maintenance programme.
  • Work efficiently when carrying out routine & breakdown maintenance.
  • Promote continuous improvement and change through own initiatives.
  • Promote health and safety within the team.
  • Assist with an effective fault response service.
  • Ensure all equipment drawings and documentation is up to date.
  • Ensure all reporting, recording, and administration requirements are achieved.
  • Assist the team leader in establishing and promoting your training/development plan.
  • Assist the Engineering team leader with recording and managing spares usage.
  • Accountable for the major and minor plant services.
  • Audit PSE work and feedback.
  • Organise workload from Workmate for the PSE team.
  • Ensure Workmate information is up to date and relevant.

Who You Are

  • Mechanical appreciation toward PPM schedules
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings
  • PC literate
  • Bench fitting skills
  • Apprentice trained
  • ONC/HNC Mechanical
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance & maintenance experience
  • Grades A & B in Maths and English
  • NVQ 2&3 Technical
