M365 Transition Engineer (Inside IR35) - 6 Month Contract
On behalf of FCDO we are looking for an M365 Transition Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with 3 days per week required in Milton Keynes.
PLEASE NOTE: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

The role is focused on knowledge transfer, mentoring and service stabilisation. It will be embedded in DTAS 2nd Line, to increase the team’s capacity and technical capability to meet an evidenced uplift in Microsoft 365 operational demand and complexity.
Responsibilities
As an M365 Transition Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:
- Provide expert advanced 2nd Line support across M365 messaging and collaboration services, OneDrive and Teams.
- Respond to escalations.
- Troubleshoot complex Exchange Online and Exchange Hybrid issues.
- Investigate and resolve mail flow, SMTP routing and email delivery problems.
- Configure transport rules and mail routing policies.
- Manage anti-spam, anti-phishing and Exchange Online Protection policies.
- Support Microsoft Defender for Office 365 security capabilities.
- Manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and secure information sharing.
- Support SharePoint Online administration including permissions and content management.
- Collaborate with Security Operations and Infrastructure teams to maintain secure messaging services.
- Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
- Mentor 2nd line and other less experienced team members to increase the skills across M365.

Essential
- Proven experience providing Support within enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
- Expert knowledge of Exchange Online and Exchange Hybrid.
- Strong knowledge of Exchange Online Protection (EOP).
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
- Experience troubleshooting email delivery, mail flow and SMTP routing.
- Knowledge of secure email encryption, DLP and information protection.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 security, compliance and governance.
- Experience supporting SharePoint Online permissions, document libraries and site architecture.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and documentation skills.
- Experience with Teams Admin centre.
- Have practical experience of Entra ID and Intune.
