Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an experienced sales and business development professional to support the growth of its middle-market mergers and acquisitions advisory practice.
This role focuses on speaking with founders, shareholders, and owners of privately held businesses who are considering a sale, recapitalization, strategic partnership, succession plan, or other liquidity event. Qualified inbound leads will be provided.
You will manage the relationship from the initial discovery call through the execution of a sell-side M&A engagement agreement. The ideal candidate understands consultative selling, can communicate confidently with senior executives, and knows how to guide complex, high-value decisions without using a transactional sales approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and advisory consultations with qualified business owners.
- Assess company background, ownership objectives, transaction readiness, valuation expectations, and desired timelines.
- Explain the sell-side M&A process, including valuation, market positioning, buyer outreach, due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
- Present the client’s advisory services, transaction strategy, competitive advantages, and overall value proposition.
- Build trusted relationships with founders, shareholders, entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and executive leadership teams.
- Manage opportunities from the initial conversation through proposal review, fee discussion, negotiation, and signed engagement agreement.
- Address questions and objections related to valuation, confidentiality, timing, advisory fees, transaction risk, and market conditions.
- Maintain consistent follow-up and momentum throughout a complex sales cycle.
- Manage CRM activity, opportunity stages, pipeline reporting, forecasts, conversion rates, and next steps.
- Collaborate with senior M&A professionals to ensure a smooth client transition into transaction execution.
- Provide feedback on lead quality, client concerns, competitive positioning, messaging, and market trends.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
