Machine Learning Engineer
A fantastic opportunity for a Machine Learning Engineer to join a world-leading AI technology company developing cutting-edge software solutions. This is an ideal opportunity for an ML Engineer who has a strong academic background and experience working with LLM technologies. You will work alongside Software Engineers, Machine Learning specialists, and the wider tech team to deploy, integrate and optimise innovative machine learning models within highly advanced, real-world products.
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office
Salary: £55,000 to £80,000 per annum + excellent benefits
Requirements for Machine Learning Engineer
- Strong commercial experience in a Machine Learning Engineering, AI Engineering, Software Engineering or closely related role
- Strong experience working with Python and the ability to write production-quality code
- Commercial or substantial project experience working with Large Language Models
- Experience with LangChain and/or LangGraph
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, model deployment, and inference technologies
- Experience using Python data and matrix manipulation libraries such as NumPy and pandas
- This company highly values a top academic history, so is looking for a 1st or 2:1 in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or another closely related subject with a minimum AAB at A Level, or international equivalent
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working autonomously and making technical decisions, while also collaborating closely with a highly technical team

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Python memory management and performance optimisation
- GPU optimisation and acceleration
Responsibilities for Machine Learning Engineer
- Deploy and integrate new machine learning models into advanced commercial software products
- Work with Large Language Models and modern AI orchestration frameworks, including LangChain and LangGraph
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, Machine Learning specialists and Security Researchers
- Take projects from rapid prototyping and experimentation through to production implementation
- Optimise machine learning models for speed, scale, runtime and memory usage
- Help improve the performance and scalability of existing AI systems
- Develop innovative new features using machine learning and AI technologies
- Explore new technologies and approaches to solve complex technical challenges
- Build expertise across a broad range of technology stacks, with opportunities to specialise in particular areas
