Machine Learning Engineer
London | 3 days a week in London
£70,000 - £85,000 + 25% Bonus
VIQU has partnered with an insurance organisation looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to build, deploy, and operate production-grade machine learning systems across business-critical analytical functions.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on taking ML models from development into reliable and scalable production environments.
Key Responsibilities of the Machine Learning Engineer
- Build automated ML pipelines for feature engineering, training, and scoring.
- Productionise Data Science models into modular, tested code.
- Deploy models into batch and real-time environments.
- Manage model promotion, rollback, and versioning.
- Implement data drift and model drift monitoring.
- Build performance alerts, logging, and automated retraining.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Platform teams on CI/CD.
- Improve pipeline performance and compute efficiency.
- Maintain strong testing, documentation, and engineering standards.

Key Requirements of the Machine Learning Engineer
- Strong Python, PySpark, and SQL engineering skills.
- Hands-on Databricks, MLflow, and Delta Lake experience.
- Experience with distributed data and ML pipelines.
- Strong understanding of production model deployment.
- Experience with monitoring and drift detection.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
- Exposure to containerisation and API integration.
- Strong production coding practices.

The Machine Learning Engineer will suit someone who enjoys bridging the gap between Data Science and production engineering while retaining hands-on ownership of ML systems.
