About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our client’s innovative team remotely within the UK. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models that directly impact the company’s core insurance underwriting and pricing systems. You will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient ML solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead greenfield projects, including forecasting and pricing models, in a collaborative Agile environment. You will have the chance to mentor junior team members, influence technical strategies, and contribute to the company's growth as they expand their UK presence.

  • Extensive experience in Python programming, with a solid understanding of modern software engineering practices.
  • Hands-on experience deploying machine learning models into production environments, ideally within AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, and SageMaker.
  • Familiarity with data management tools like Databricks, PostgreSQL, Amazon RedShift, and MLflow is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture, TDD/DDD methodologies, and common design patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying scalable machine learning models for insurance underwriting and pricing systems.
  • Collaborating with data scientists to translate research prototypes into production-ready solutions.
  • Implementing best practices for model validation, monitoring, and maintenance to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Working closely with software engineers to integrate ML models into existing platforms and microservices architectures.
  • Participating in technical discussions, code reviews, and agile planning sessions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentoring junior team members and sharing knowledge to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, cloud technologies, and software engineering.
