About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our Group AI team at Kingfisher. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, deployment, and operationalization of advanced artificial intelligence solutions that impact millions of customers and colleagues. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and architecture to build scalable, robust machine learning systems. Your expertise will help optimize decision-making processes, enhance customer experiences, and drive innovation across our retail brands.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models, ensuring their seamless integration into live environments, and continuously monitoring and improving their performance. This position requires a strong technical background, collaborative mindset, and a passion for leveraging AI to solve real-world problems in a retail context.

Qualifications

  • A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Practical experience with classical machine learning techniques and familiarity with modern approaches such as natural language processing and deep learning.
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience using libraries such as Pandas, scikit-learn, and Jupyter notebooks.
  • Experience working with SQL databases and data pipelines for data preparation, transformation, and feature engineering.
  • Knowledge of model evaluation, performance monitoring, and optimization in production environments.
  • Familiarity with deployment tools and practices, including version control systems like Git, CI/CD workflows, and containerization technologies.
  • A good grasp of statistical concepts to interpret data insights and assess model efficacy.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, and validate machine learning models tailored to business needs and objectives.
  • Support the deployment and integration of models into production systems, ensuring stability and scalability.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable production-quality code following best engineering practices.
  • Contribute to the design and enhancement of data pipelines, tooling, and automation processes to streamline AI workflows.
  • Monitor model performance in real-time, identify issues, and implement improvements to optimize results.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to understand project requirements, priorities, and constraints.
  • Share knowledge, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to incorporate cutting-edge techniques into our solutions.
