About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our AI Growth team. This team is responsible for building and scaling AI systems that enhance the relevance and personalization of our marketplace for millions of users worldwide. In this pivotal role, you will provide technical leadership for our machine learning infrastructure, shaping the architecture, roadmap, and engineering strategies that support our AI capabilities. Your expertise will drive the evolution of our foundation model platform, facilitate the adoption of Generative AI and large language models (LLMs), and ensure the robustness, scalability, and operational excellence of our ML systems. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including engineers, data scientists, and platform specialists—you will influence technical decisions, mentor team members, and help deliver innovative solutions that align with our business objectives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead large-scale ML infrastructure initiatives, optimize GPU compute strategies, and shape the future of AI at Just Eat Takeaway.com.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Proven experience defining and implementing large-scale ML platform roadmaps
- Strong understanding of production ML architecture, including model serving and training infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, Generative AI, and deploying AI models in production environments
- Expertise in Kubernetes, cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), and distributed ML workloads
- Deep knowledge of GPU infrastructure optimization, including Vertex AI, SageMaker, and Kubernetes-based GPU management
- Experience with monitoring, model drift detection, and operational performance metrics for ML systems
- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills across engineering and business teams
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic approach to balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability
- Mentoring experience and a passion for sharing technical knowledge and fostering team growth
Responsibilities
- Own and define the technical roadmap for the ML infrastructure domain, including GPU compute, model serving, and observability
- Lead the evolution and expansion of the foundation model platform across hybrid cloud architectures (GCP and AWS)
- Develop and execute strategies for GPU compute, balancing performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Drive the adoption of Generative AI and LLM capabilities, establishing best practices for evaluation, deployment, and governance
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve cross-platform dependencies and technical blockers
- Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership across multiple teams and projects
- Partner with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to ensure ML systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business goals
- Enhance platform observability, monitor model performance, and improve operational health of ML ecosystems
- Mentor engineers, promote engineering excellence, and facilitate knowledge sharing through reviews and collaborative problem-solving
- Make strategic architectural decisions that support long-term scalability, maintainability, and innovation
