About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in Python, AWS, and MLOps to join our client's dynamic team remotely within the UK. In this senior role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models that directly impact the company's core insurance underwriting and pricing systems. You will work closely with data scientists and software engineers in an agile environment, contributing to the development of scalable, reliable, and efficient ML solutions. The role offers the opportunity to lead greenfield projects focused on forecasting and pricing, while also mentoring junior team members and influencing technical decisions across the organization.

  • Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, with a focus on deploying models into production environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python programming, including experience with relevant libraries and frameworks.
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS services related to machine learning and data processing.
  • Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices such as microservices architecture, TDD, DDD, and design patterns.
  • Experience with data management tools like Databricks, PostgreSQL, Amazon RedShift, or MLflow is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models that enhance insurance underwriting and pricing capabilities.
  • Collaborating with data scientists to translate research prototypes into scalable production solutions.
  • Implementing MLOps best practices to ensure models are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Participating in data exploration, feature engineering, and model evaluation to optimize performance.
  • Contributing to the development of data pipelines and infrastructure to support ML workflows.
  • Mentoring junior team members and sharing best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Engaging in technical discussions to influence project direction and technical strategies.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and cloud technologies.
