Junior / Mid-Level Machine Learning Engineer (Accepting Grads also)
Location: Fully Remote, Scotland based candidates only
Salary: Up to £50,000
Recruitment Partner: Searchability
The Opportunity
Searchability is working with a growing AI technology startup to recruit a Junior / Mid-Level Machine Learning Engineer.
The company is developing an AI-powered platform that helps organisations find and win funding and contracts, using AI and machine learning to identify relevant opportunities and support the process of creating applications and bids.
This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants to build their career within AI/ML in an early-stage startup environment. We're open to candidates ranging from high-calibre graduates through to ML Engineers with a few years of commercial experience.
The role is fully remote, but you must be based in Scotland.
The Role
You'll join a small technical team where you'll have the opportunity to work on real-world machine learning problems and contribute directly to the development of the company's AI platform.
Rather than being restricted to one small part of a large engineering organisation, you'll have the opportunity to get involved across the ML lifecycle, learn quickly and see your work make it into a customer-facing product.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
