About The Role
We are seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join our London office as part of our Global DoorDash Engineering team. This hybrid role involves working three days a week in the office and focuses on developing and deploying machine learning models to enhance our vertical expansion initiatives beyond restaurant ordering, including groceries and retail. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to build personalization, ranking, and notification models that drive user engagement and retention. You will play a key role in designing systems that seamlessly integrate new vertical content into our existing platform, ensuring a smooth and engaging user experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to impact millions of users worldwide by solving complex technical challenges at scale, contributing to our mission of transforming the way people shop and eat.

Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as an ML Engineer or Data Scientist
- Proven ability to write high-quality production code in Python
- Experience with end-to-end model productionisation
- Strong understanding of personalization, ranking, or recommender systems
- Experience with causal inference or uplift modelling is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts
Responsibilities
- Build and improve ranking models for vertical landing pages such as grocery and retail, determining the order in which users see content
- Design models that integrate new-vertical content into the homepage without disrupting the core restaurant ordering experience
- Develop personalization models that translate user behavior into relevant recommendations for new verticals
- Contribute to notification targeting strategies, optimizing who receives notifications, message content, and timing to increase engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and data scientists to deliver impactful solutions
- Ensure models are scalable, maintainable, and deployed efficiently in production environments
- Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve model performance based on real-world data and feedback
