About The Company

Waymo is a pioneering autonomous driving technology company dedicated to transforming mobility and enhancing road safety. Originating from the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has established itself as a leader in developing advanced driver-assistance systems and fully autonomous vehicles. Our mission is to be the world's most trusted driver, leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve access to mobility while significantly reducing traffic-related fatalities. The Waymo Driver, our flagship autonomous driving system, powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and is adaptable to various vehicle platforms and use cases. With over ten million rider-only trips completed and more than 100 million miles driven on public roads across multiple states, Waymo continues to push the boundaries of autonomous vehicle technology through innovation and rigorous testing.

About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our newly established team in London, UK. This team will collaborate closely with our teams in MTV and Oxford to develop foundational models that enhance the realism and performance of autonomous vehicle simulations. The role involves building scalable machine learning and data systems, designing innovative simulation workflows, and developing insight tools that accelerate evaluation and onboard development processes. You will work on integrating large models into our simulation environment, improving the accuracy of simulated worlds, and contributing to the development of metrics that quantify realism in autonomous vehicle testing scenarios. As part of this hybrid role reporting to an Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in advancing Waymo’s simulation capabilities, which are critical for training and evaluating our autonomous driving systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
