About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to join an innovative team focused on developing advanced machine learning systems for the defence and security sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on the entire machine learning development lifecycle, from conceptualization and architecture design to data collection, model training, and product integration. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers and scientists to create prototypes and demonstrator units, utilizing state-of-the-art electronics and hardware integration. The environment encourages creativity and innovation, allowing you to work across multiple domains such as computer vision, generative models, and new methodological inventions. This position is based in Cambridge, offering a competitive salary up to approximately £70,000 depending on experience, along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications
- A strong proficiency in Python, with practical experience utilizing modern machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various machine learning techniques across different domains, with the ability to adapt to new challenges quickly.
- A top-tier degree in a STEM subject, with additional qualifications such as a PhD or relevant commercial experience being highly desirable.
- UK nationality is required to pass security clearance processes.
- Experience deploying machine learning models onto various hardware platforms, including embedded systems and cloud environments, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with GPU programming languages and frameworks such as CUDA or ROCm is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models across a range of projects.
- Conducting initial research, selecting appropriate architectures, and iterating on models to meet project specifications.
- Working closely with electronics engineers to integrate models into hardware prototypes, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
- Collecting and preprocessing data, training models, and performing rigorous testing and evaluation to validate system capabilities.
- Participating in cross-disciplinary collaboration, sharing insights and innovations to advance the company's technological offerings.
- Contributing to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the company's competitive edge in the industry.
