Help keep production running smoothly through engineering support, equipment care and continuous improvement.
Role Overview
As an Engineering Operative, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and reliable operation of machinery across the site. Working closely with the Engineering Team, you'll help maximise equipment performance, minimise downtime and ensure production equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety, food safety and operational efficiency.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical or electrical mindset who is looking to develop their engineering experience within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Key Duties
- Complete machinery and equipment set-ups and changeovers
- Carry out machinery inspections in line with food safety, health and safety, and site requirements
- Support the continuous improvement of equipment performance across the site
- Monitor machinery to ensure optimal operating performance
- Minimise downtime while maintaining food safety and health and safety standards
- Identify, report and help prevent equipment faults and breakdowns
- Support Engineering Technicians with breakdown repairs and tool changes
- Complete handovers to Production, Hygiene and Technical teams where required
- Promote effective equipment ownership and encourage best practice among operators
- Generate and support ideas that improve performance and efficiency
- Maintain visual checks of equipment throughout the shift
- Support the delivery of engineering projects and value-for-money improvements
- Contribute to a proactive and collaborative engineering culture

Ideal Candidate
- Mechanically or electrically minded with a genuine interest in engineering
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Able to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing operational needs
- A strong communicator who works well with colleagues across departments
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications
- Committed to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance
- Proactive in identifying issues and implementing improvements
- A positive role model who promotes professional behaviours and teamwork
Desirable experience:
- Experience working in chilled or frozen food manufacturing environments
- Experience within coated products or white fish processing operations
- Experience supporting engineering, maintenance or production equipment activities
