A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Machine Operator within the Machining team at our Newcastle facility, you will support the continued delivery of high-quality components for Siemens Energy’s Gas Services business.
Your role will focus on setting up and operating production machinery, checking that machined components meet the required tolerances and quality standards, and carrying out routine maintenance and troubleshooting to keep equipment running effectively.
Working from engineering drawings and written instructions, you will play an important part in maintaining safe, efficient and consistent production across the machining operation.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Set up, calibrate and operate production machinery, including CNC machines, lathes and mills, in line with engineering drawings, specifications and written instructions.
- Interpret technical drawings and machining requirements to produce components accurately and in line with production schedules and output targets.
- Carry out in-process and final inspections using precision measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
- Verify that finished components meet specified tolerances and quality standards, maintaining accurate inspection and quality records.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, cleaning and basic troubleshooting to help minimise machine downtime and maintain equipment performance.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment while following all relevant safety, quality and manufacturing procedures.

What You Bring
- Previous experience operating production machinery within a manufacturing, machining or engineering environment.
- Practical experience with CNC machinery, lathes, mills or similar production equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical instructions and machining specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers to inspect machined components.
- Good understanding of quality control, safe working practices and basic machine troubleshooting.
- A relevant vocational or technical qualification, such as an NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent, is desirable. Forklift certification would also be beneficial.

We bring together gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and digital service solutions under one roof. Through modernization, digitalization and innovative service offerings, we support customers worldwide in improving reliability, efficiency and sustainability.
You will join the Machining team at our Newcastle facility, supporting the safe and efficient manufacture of precision components used within our Gas Services business.
