Machine Operator
Location: Birtley, England, North East
Salary: £13.18 - £17.57 per hour
Job Type: Permanent
About the Role
Kinetic plc are currently recruiting for a Machine Operator to join an established and innovative manufacturing business based in Birtley. This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity for someone looking to develop their manufacturing skills ideally with machine operating experience. You will be trained to operate both a plasma cutter and bandsaw, with training expected to take approximately 6 weeks.
Training & Pay Progression - Training will initially be completed on a day shift, giving you the opportunity to become fully competent and confident operating the machinery on a permanent night shift.
Training Period - Approximately 6 Weeks
- Monday to Thursday
- 08:00 until 16:00
- £13.18 per hour
- Full training provided on plasma cutting and bandsaw operations
Once fully trained - Permanent Night Shift
- Monday to Thursday
- 20:00 until 06:00
- £17.57 per hour
- Permanent night shift

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain specialist machinery experience and progress into a permanent, well-paid night shift position following successful completion of training.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plasma cutting and bandsaw machinery
- Set up machinery, including loading materials and adjusting settings
- Ensure machinery is operating efficiently and safely
- Carry out routine quality checks and record results
- Identify and report faults, defects or breakdowns
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment
- Read and follow work instructions, job sheets and specifications
- Meet daily production targets and deadlines
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Follow all company health & safety policies and procedures
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, production or machine operating environment
- An interest in developing their skills in machine operation
- The ability to follow instructions and work accurately to set processes
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Basic mechanical understanding or aptitude
- Strong awareness of health & safety
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Flexibility to complete approximately 6 weeks' training on days before moving onto the permanent night shift
