Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is a family run business owned and run by the Smith family since 1982. Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.
Join our team as a Plant Operator and play a key role in delivering projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. We're looking for an experienced and safety-conscious individual with experience operating plant and machinery within a construction or quarrying environment.

What you'll be doing:
- Operating a variety of plant and equipment in line with your qualifications and competency level.
- Carrying out daily safety checks and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Performing routine cleaning, greasing and basic maintenance of plant and machinery.
- Working closely with site supervisors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Following all site health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Recording plant inspections, maintenance checks and timesheets accurately.
- Reporting accidents, incidents, near misses and equipment faults promptly.
- Wearing and maintaining the appropriate PPE at all times.
What we're looking for:
- Experience operating construction plant and equipment.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions effectively.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, hardworking and proactive approach to work.
