Function/Department Description
Life is a fast-growing, premium, complete kitchen brand operating across both Trade and Retail channels.
Enabled by multi-million-pound state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, Life is the first brand in the Danesmoor Group to offer fully assembled kitchens and bedrooms. We provide made-to-order, premium cabinets that arrive fully assembled – with internals, fittings, and frontals all pre-fitted. They're delivered ready to install, saving time on site, helping jobs run smoother, and speeding up project turnaround.
Summary and Purpose
Life Kitchens are seeking to recruit a multi-skilled operative for their manufacturing site in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will be running our machines within the factory, ensuring all components are accounted for, and quality checked to meet our standards. The postholder will build internal customer supplier relationships to fully understand what is required at each stage of the process.
Immediate Priorities
- To gain an understanding of the factory flow
- Gain knowledge of our manufacturing tolerances and specifications.
- Gain knowledge around our quality standards and adheres to them.
- Have a full understanding around H&S within the area and required PPE.
- Confident in Excel spreadsheet completion for daily KPI capture.
- All non-conforming issues to be recorded by means of SMR procedure and reported to supervision.
- Be involved with the Internal Supplier/customer regarding any quality issues received or produced.
- All housekeeping duties are completed along with daily maintenance check sheets (PPM)

Main Responsibilities
- Operating drilling/CNC machinery
- Meeting set KPIs – output per hour
- Setting up machines (calibration, cleaning etc)
- Feeding raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines
- Assisting in other areas of the factory where required
- To ensure all components meet the required quality visual and dimensional standards prior to leaving site, whilst making provisions to ensure orders hit OTIF targets.
- All products are packed and handled in an acceptable manner which eliminates the possibility of breakage during loading and transit.
- The ability to follow SOPs with relevant risk assessments to carry out daily tasks in a safe manner, any variation to be reported to supervision for review.
- All non-conforming product to manufacturing tolerance to be reported to supervision and captured by means of SMR so root cause analysis can be determined.
- Raising recuts through MES
- Assisting in the manufacture of panels and cabinets in line with production plan requirements when required
- To ensure that equipment and plant are maintained to a level which guarantees maximum up-time and that the work area conforms to the company’s requirements for Health and Safety and general presentation. All production jobs to be documented by means of departmental KPI data capture
- Control the supplies of consumables in order to prevent stock-outs and liaising with onsite suppliers where applicable.
- Carry out other tasks and duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- A positive attitude, a good team player, able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Lifting/manoeuvring panels
- Maintaining a safe work environment
- Close inspection work and the ability to differentiate accurately between materials.
- The ability to follow the requirements of Standard Operating Procedures and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to solve problems and make improvements to processes.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Well-organised with the ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively
- Resilient with the ability to work in a challenging environment.
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations advantageous.
- Excellent organisation skills
- Computer literate

Working Hours
- Mon – Fri 7:30 – 3:30 – Overtime available as and when required. 1 x 10-minute break and 1 x 20-minute lunch daily.
- Possibility of moving onto shifts in the future 6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm
