Machine Shop Supervisor (Lathe Area) - Newmarket, Suffolk - £50,000-£60,000 (Negotiable) + Benefits

Are you an experienced machining professional with strong technical knowledge of multi-spindle lathes, looking to step into a leadership role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment?

We are currently recruiting for a Production Supervisor for the machine shop at a world leading engineering firm. Based in Newmarket, this role will see you take ownership of all technical aspects within the Lathe Area, supporting a 24/7 environment consisting of multi-spindle lathes, cold heading equipment, and associated machinery.

Production Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all technical aspects of the Lathe Area, including machines and ancillary equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve machining and production issues alongside the team
  • Support and work closely with the other supervisors to drive output and performance
  • Provide technical training and support to operators within the department
  • Liaise with production control and other departments to meet business requirements
  • Support service engineers during maintenance and equipment servicing
  • Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
  • Assist production when required to maintain output levels
  • Ensure smooth operation across a 24/7 manufacturing environment

About You:

  • Proven experience working with multi-spindle lathe machines and associated equipment
  • 5-10 years' experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a shift-based or 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Confident supporting and developing team members
  • Highly organised with a proactive, "can-do" attitude
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including supporting different shifts when required

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or senior technical role
  • Background in high-output precision engineering environments
