Machinery Yard Operative

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Machinery Yard Operative to join our dynamic team at our ANNAN depot. This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about serving and supporting the Rural and Agricultural industry and who wants to assist with the day to day running of the depot alongside an established team, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and standards are achieved.

The Job

Day to day responsibility of the efficient operation, presentation and general upkeep of the machinery yard, including:

  • Safely unloading incoming wagons and delivery vehicles.
  • Loading agricultural machinery, implements and equipment.
  • Moving, delivering and collecting tractors, agricultural machinery, implements and associated items from customers and suppliers as required.
  • Preparing new, used and demonstration machinery.
  • Carrying out basic checks on machinery before delivery or collection and reporting any damage, defects or issues to the relevant manager.
  • Cleaning machinery and equipment to a high standard, including pressure washing and general preparation.
  • Ensuring machinery is presented professionally.
  • Maintaining an organised yard ensuring equipment is parked and stored correctly.
  • Keeping the yard, loading areas and surrounding areas clean, tidy and hazard free.
  • Following any company health and safety procedures and always maintaining safe working practices.

Skills, Experience And Qualities Required

  • Good practise, knowledge and understanding of agricultural machinery and equipment
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Experience driving tractors, telehandlers, forklifts or relevant machinery
  • Experience loading, unloading vehicles or wagons
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to keep the yard and machinery organised and presentable
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Customer focused attitude with a commitment to providing a high level of service
  • Pride in maintaining a clean, safe and professional working environment
  • Flexibility with working hours during busy seasons and weekends
  • Ability to manage change and to adapt to unexpected demands on a day to day basis
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines both independently and as a member of a team
  • Experience working independently and managing time in a commercial environment
