The Role:
The Machining 4 role is a skilled specialist responsible for advanced CNC machining operations, including machine set-up, programming (G&M code/Fanuc), and process optimization across 3- and 5-axis equipment.
Operating under moderate supervision, the role requires a high level of autonomy to plan and execute daily activities, troubleshoot machining issues in real time, and ensure the production of high-quality aerospace components. The role contributes directly to aftermarket production within the Service & Specialty Products (S&SP) business, supporting on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

The position also plays a key role in continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and mentoring, supporting team capability and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to ensure machine readiness, reliability, and longevity.
- Review and prioritize work orders in line with the production plan, validate technical documentation, drawings, and specifications to assist.
- Conduct detailed machine set-ups and operate CNC Machinery (3 and 5 axis) in accordance with standard procedures to produce precision aerospace components.
- Monitor production runs, ensuring adherence to quality and process standards.
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues in real time (tooling, programming, or process-related).
- Maintain compliance with EH&S, FOD, and 5S standards.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Recognised CNC/NC qualification or good experience in CNC machining within a precision engineering environment.
- Strong experience with 3- and 5-axis CNC milling and/or turning.
- Advanced understanding of Fanuc control systems and G&M code programming.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in the use of inspection and measurement equipment.
