Biscuit International UK is the leading specialist supplier of own-label gluten-free biscuits and cookies in the United Kingdom. Located in Gateshead, our production facility operates three lines, with an annual output exceeding 4,300 tonnes annually in plain, chocolate, and sandwich biscuit formats. We are part of Biscuit International, Europe’s leading private label biscuit and bread substitute manufacturer, with a rich heritage of over 400 years of expertise in delivering excellent taste at great value.

We’re seeking a Machinist to join our Production team in Gateshead and support the safe, efficient and high-quality operation of production machinery.

Reporting to the Pack Team Lead, this role is responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring machinery to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, in full and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the Capper machine in line with production requirements
  • Operate and monitor wrapping, labelling, check weighing and printing equipment
  • Ensure creams, jams and materials are available when required
  • Programme and adjust machines to meet production demands
  • Monitor machine performance, feed and speed
  • Identify and report faults or quality issues to the Pack Team Lead
  • Ensure product quality, correct coding and specification compliance
  • Maintain clean-as-you-go standards and high personal hygiene
  • Support training of new machinists
  • Adhere to all health, safety, food safety and PPE requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience working as a machinist or production operator in food manufacturing
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly, methodically and to strict instructions
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and reliability
  • Level 2 Food Safety essential
  • Level 2 Health & Safety and Manual Handling desirable
