Are you a skilled Machinist looking to work on complex, high-precision aerospace components?

At Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester, you'll manufacture critical landing gear components used on some of the world's most advanced aircraft. Safran Landing Systems are a global leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, from commercial and business travel to military and defence fleets.

Our expertise covers the entire life cycle of our products from end-to-end; Design, Engineering & Manufacturing, through to Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO). The Gloucester OE site has been at the forefront of landing gear technology for over 85 years, dating from the innovative designs of Sir George Dowty to advanced landing gears for the world's most modern aircraft today.

About the Role:

  • Set up and operate CNC and NC machining equipment, including WFL 6-axis mill-turn lathes and Mecof 6-axis high-speed milling machines.
  • Manufacture precision aerospace components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out machine set-ups and tool changes.
  • Maintain high quality standards and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Work safely and efficiently within a structured manufacturing environment.
  • Contribute to delivering products used across commercial, business and military aircraft programmes worldwide.

Shift rotations include:

  • Dayshift
  • Nightshift - Premium payment - 38.5% of salary
  • Bridging shift - Premium payment - 39.75% of salary

  • You may also be required to work a 5th shift - Premium Payment - 48.7% of salary

What You'll Bring:

  • Knowledge of machining principles and numerical controls fundamentals as well as the ability to read drawings and layouts - Essential
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Machining, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline. (NVQ Level 3 Minimum) - Essential
  • Siemens 840D Control systems experience - Desirable
  • Ability to Set and Run various CNC Machines to include some of the following Milling, grinding, Turning and Mill-turn machining centres.
  • Manual machining techniques in any of the following, grinding, honing, Deep hole boring, Turning, milling - Desirable
  • Able to set own tools
  • Understanding of 5s principles
  • Good communication and team working skills
  • Basic computer and problem solving skills
  • Flexibility to work across shifts, including weekends and nights
