Machinist
Full time
Derby
What you will be doing:
We have a number of opportunities available for General Machinists to join our team within Turbines in Derby.
In this role you will programme, set and operate our CNC machining centres. You will also work to exact tolerances. You will have the ability to play an active role in continuous improvement within your cell, develop existing processes and implement process improvements. The roles will be based at Gate 6, PMF, Wilmore Road, Derby.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the production of various aerofoil, root, shroud and fir tree features on a variety of Turbines blades using grinding, spark erosion processes.
- Setting and operating the machines, plant and equipment to produce various surface features on blades. Making any mathematical calculations associated with the use of precision measuring instruments, plant adjustments and the removal of metal to pre-determine dimensions and features by grinding operations.
- Process Machining and carrying out all aspects of setting.
Preferred requirements:
- You will have completed a recognised time-served apprenticeship, including City and Guilds NVQ 3 or equivalent.
- You will be able to demonstrate CNC machining experience, including programming and setting.
- You will be confident in interpreting engineering drawings for use with precision measuring equipment.
- You will have a knowledge of a wide range of inspection techniques.
- You will demonstrate a professional and flexible attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
- You will have an up-to-date working knowledge of health and safety.
