Job Description

A registered nurse or HCPC registered professional will provide and manage the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support specialist service for patients, families and their carers, ensuring access to high quality support and information to all. They will be required to support the development of evidence-based cancer information for the trust and work with colleagues across the integrated care board and cancer alliance if required. They will collaborate with the site-specific teams to ensure that information and support meets patient need /support, acting as a key focal point to support the development of local information, support strategies and promotion of the cancer information centre.

A full UK driving license is essential for this post. Please note that an international driving license is not accepted.

About the Opportunity

This great opportunity allows you to use your advanced communication skills, cancer knowledge and experience in supporting patients, families and their carers on their cancer journey within the cancer information centre, outpatients, as an inpatient or through community working. From the worried well to those with palliative care needs, your service will be an additional support service allowing you to work along the cancer clinical teams for the needs of our patients/ carers or relatives. You will provide them with the information and support that is required be able to refer to the necessary teams or agencies.

You will work with cancer services, Integrated Care Boards, and the West Midlands Cancer Alliance, Macmillan Cancer Support and gain patient feedback. This will allow the continual developing of the centre through promotion and development of support groups or information as required.
